I was sat there last night wondering about doing a quick project with some old trig based code that I used for Addicting Games and having always wanted to dabble a bit with AI I came up with the concept of "Globular" ..
Basically you are a gun firing balls into the centre of a "field" that stick together, using classic POP 3 ideology. The field would be able to rotate except unlike "Spinning Bubbles" which I did for Addicting Games the field would be square and the gun fixed ..
Sounds simple so far right? Well then I was thinking about the AI for it, why? Well there will be an enemy gun that is competing against you for points. The winner (and if you progress to the next level) gets decided after X minutes of play. Each level the enemy gun gets harder to beat.
The main issues with this is the enemy gun can't just fire stuff randomly around the field, it has to decide what it thinks is best to shoot at, and more importantly the enemy gun has to do "tricks" .. i.e. bounce balls off walls to get tricky shots or decide to shoot at something nearer to "foil" the real player. It was a considerable challenge and one that I will probably go into more depth in my next blog about it ..
I will do another update tonight when I have got an Open Beta up to test ..
For now .. here is the music I am thinking of using ..
