Well, I managed to procrastonate long enough to get at least some of the physics in Globular fixed so here is the Open Beta finally ..
Link To Globular
.. I went with different music instead of the one I chose, It just worked better, it is more repetative but for the style of game it works nicer.
Still a number of bugs to squash, along with the fact the game doesn't end as the "levelling" code isn't in there, but, hey ho ..
I have to say, I am very proud of the simple AI / Path choice algorithm I put in , but it was using up so much CPU it was unreal, so took a good day (few hours in the evening) to optimise it to acceptable levels for the AI to run both the friendly and enemy guns at the same time with adverts running (for most game sites).
Anyway, have fun with the beta, more updates as they come in .

Globular : Open Beta
I was sat there last night wondering about doing a quick project with some old trig based code that I used for Addicting Games and having always wanted to dabble a bit with AI I came up with the concept of "Globular" ..
Basically you are a gun firing balls into the centre of a "field" that stick together, using classic POP 3 ideology. The field would be able to rotate except unlike "Spinning Bubbles" which I did for Addicting Games the field would be square and the gun fixed ..
Sounds simple so far right? Well then I was thinking about the AI for it, why? Well there will be an enemy gun that is competing against you for points. The winner (and if you progress to the next level) gets decided after X minutes of play. Each level the enemy gun gets harder to beat.
The main issues with this is the enemy gun can't just fire stuff randomly around the field, it has to decide what it thinks is best to shoot at, and more importantly the enemy gun has to do "tricks" .. i.e. bounce balls off walls to get tricky shots or decide to shoot at something nearer to "foil" the real player. It was a considerable challenge and one that I will probably go into more depth in my next blog about it ..
I will do another update tonight when I have got an Open Beta up to test ..
For now .. here is the music I am thinking of using ..

Enjoy .. Very .. Relaxing ..

Infection 2
I have been tinkering with a sequel to Infection for a while now, but this week is going to be a big push to get it finished .. Origionally I was going to keep the same concept of having projectiles coming from the gun but thanks to some good advice from ben I changed it to a laser .. Which now has some cool effects to it.
Hopefully it should only take me a week to get finished as I have had some great graphics created in Blender by a friend from Ben Olding Games forum alongside a set of new backgrounds I created and the music was licensed from FlashDen.
Check out the music here .. MUSIC LINKY
I will be posting regular updates on Infection 2 as they happen.

Launching The New Site
Well, it has been a week of ups and downs getting the new site ready, having had to work on Infection 2 along with it and avoid the temptation to delve into writing Stellar Fury, but I finally made it and got the new site ready.
Obviously I have added blogs to it to but finding the right solution invariably ended up with me using Blogger.com which was far and away the easiest solution and let me integrate the styling of the main site and monitising the system to. I would definitly recommend the site for others to use if you are blogging.
The biggest problem I found about putting a new site live is that you are so tempted to keep on tweeking it before it goes live.
God only knows that Ben Olding (a flash developer friend of mine) is having enough issues with his website at the moment and hackers finding ways to ruin his weekend by dropping the "Users" table of one of his games. I think I am going to keep this site very simple as a result.
Anyway, the future begins now ..
